11/22/20, 11:32pm (The Berkeley Post) - A large fire at 2067 University a 7 story building under construction burned in a building in downtown Berkeley Saturday night, authorities said. Firefighters responded to the six alarm blaze just before 6:30 p.m., according to the Berkeley Police Department. The building was under construction and had a homeless encampment behind it. No injuries have been reported.
Once police officer described the scene as "pretty grim". He said "There is a good chance the building might collapse on itself. There seems to be a pretty hot fire burning 2-3 stories up in the center." He said the effort to contain it will last all night and inspectors most likely will go in on Monday.
