Berkeley News: Ashby and San Pablo hit and run - 3 car accident. More police presence needed.

11/26/2020 9:10am (The Berkeley Post) - Every night there are cars speeding up and down Ashby Avenue. Not only are they posing a major safety issue but they are waking up dozens of people that live on Ashby Avenue.The accident that happened last night is just another of a series of accidents that continue to plague Ashby Ave.The Berkeley Post interviewed Nicole, a night nurse and resident that lives on the 1500 block of Ashby who said that every night at 12:08 Am "like clockwork there is a motorcycle that speeds down Ashby at 80-100 miles an hour, emitting deafening sounds that wake up every one in my house." She jokingly says, "we even have a nickname for him.""I just wish people would slow down on Ashby so I could safely rollerblade to the park", says Liam Levine, an 11 year old boy that lives on Ashby Ave.Residents say they have called in to police numerous times but have yet to see any additional patrolling in the neighborhood.The Berkeley Post has reached out to the BPD for comment..
